We hadn’t planned on stopping anywhere special today. But as we were driving, my mom pointed out the road signs advertising the Marengo Caves, and we thought, heck, why not take a peek.
So, after driving through some adorable towns in IL, we found the caves and put on our tennis shoes. The tour was truly amazing. Just to think that the stalactites and stalagmites grow only 1 inch every 100 years, wow!
I had to steal the “welcome to Indiana” sign from online. I couldn’t get to my camera fast enough…. it was traumatic!
The state of Kentucky is beautiful, fyi.
Oh, and their Carl’s Jr. (called Hardees) doesn’t have the Famous Star… very disappointing to Shawn.
And we hit a horrible storm. Luckily Shawn was driving… I couldn’t see a thing out the window. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much lightning in my entire life. It was terrifying! I am so thankful that we’ve made it this far without any car troubles (with the exception of the new tire we had to buy), or accidents. Only one more big driving day, hooray!
