“getting to like you, getting to hope you like me”
First of all, name that movie and you win a virtual high five.
Is that song stuck in your head now? Good.
Because we’re going to get to know each other a little better now.
Excited? you should be.
My friend Brianne nominated me to participate in a blogging chain letter of sorts. You know, those annoying things you got in Junior High that you had to copy and send out to avoid some sort of deathly consequence. The good news is, this one wont kill you. Just entertain.
Here’s the rules:
1. Post 11 random things about yourself
2. Answer the 11 questions that your nominator asked
3. Create 11 questions for your own nominees
4. Nominate 11 different bloggers with fewer than 200 followers (okay, what’s with the limit on followers? whatever, I’ll comply)
5. Let them know and beg them to participate (or else!)
Just using the word “nominees” makes this sound so official. And it is. If I nominate you, feel lucky, and important!
11 random facts about me:
1. I am the most un-fashionable person I know. I only wear jeans and a t-shirt most days. If you ever see me wearing something else, just know, I am uncomfortable!
2. I don’t have ear lobes.
3. I’ve been on a sugar-free diet for 2 weeks. I started it for health reasons and am totally shocked at my success…. totally totally shocked. (although I did have a sip of juice and 2 Nutter-butters) (fine, it was 3… I just couldn’t resist)
4. I sleep with tons of covers on my bed because I need weight on me. I have a really hard time falling asleep in hotels with those flimsy comforters. I have thick blankets over me even in the heat of summer.
5. I love Downton Abbey (who doesn’t, really?) But, I’ve already watched the entire season 3. Neener Neener
6. I love to play games! Mostly strategy games. But Shawn and I don’t play very often because he and I only end up fighting. We’re so mature.
7. I have won one of the McDonald’s monopoly prizes. It was a $5000 shopping spree. I had been saving my pieces and had 2 at home when I peeled off the 3rd one in Virginia on my 8th grade DC trip. I almost fainted. An hour later on the tour bus, I couldn’t find my tiny piece and realized that I had left it there, at McDonald’s! No one else cared to drive back and get it, so I literally threw away the biggest prize I’ve ever won.
8. My mom is my best friend. I easily talk to her 5 times a day…. a major motivation to get texting.
9. I love to organize and re-organize, then organize again. Closets, cupboards, drawers, rooms, storage boxes… anything where there is stuff involved.
10. I am crazy at heart. My kids have tamed me a bit, but I’m up to do most anything! One of my favorite crazy moments was when a girlfriend and I dressed up in our nicest dresses and crashed a prom. We drove to Sacramento, and walked the streets until we found a prom (a lot of schools held prom in the city). We slyly walked in behind a group of kids who had just handed in their tickets. Then we spent the night dancing with totally random people. Only 1 person asked who we were. It was better than going to my own senior prom!
11. I don’t keep any of my clothes in my dresser, I prefer them hung… except for my underwear, that would be weird.
My answers to Brianne’s 11 questions:
1. If you could have any profession (other than what you do right now) what would it be? A librarian (in the children’s department)
2. If you had to live on one food alone for the rest of your life, what would you choose? STEAK. I love red meat! Tender, juicy, marinated, grilled, red meat. I am 100% carnivore.
3. What is your favorite book? what? only 1? Well, this is a 3 way tie between East of Eden by John Steinbeck, Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, and The Joy Luck Club by Amy Tan
4. And what about your favorite movie? Life is Beautiful, The Color Purple, and My Fair Lady (I know you asked for 1, I just couldn’t decide)
5. Pets or no pets? Dog or cat? Pets. Dog. But Grant is allergic to dogs, so I want a potbellied pig. And I want to name him Roosevelt (Rosy if it’s a girl)
6. Where is the one place you would love to visit/vacation? China.
7. What do you do at night to wind down? Sit and stare at my computer. Usually Pinterest, or Facebook, or blogs. But when I get off, I can’t remember anything I’ve looked at, so it was a complete waste of time! And yet, I will do it again tonight.
8. Favorite kind of accessory? Scarfs
9. What do you do for "me" time? Sew and quilt. And if it’s extra special ‘me’ time, and I get to leave the house alone, I go thrift shopping.
10. If you won a million dollars, what is the first thing you would buy? ear lobes. kidding, I would pay off Shawn’s loans, then buy a house (in OR or CA)
11. Do you think it is okay to pair brown with black? What about navy and black? Sure, why not.
11 questions for my nominees (aka VIP’s)
1. If there was a fire in your house and you could only grab 3 things (not including children) what would you grab?
2. Which TV show would you pick to live inside for a week?
3. If you HAD to perform in a talent show, what would you do for your act?
4. What is the last thing you ate?
5. What is your proudest accomplishment?
6. What is the best advice you’ve ever been given?
7. What skill would you like to have someday?
8. If you had an entire day to yourself (and unlimited $) what would you do?
9. Who is one of your heroes and why do they inspire you?
10. What is your favorite time of day, are you a morning or a night person?
11. What type of music is your favorite? song?
Now I need to choose 11 people to do this same thing on their blogs.
The problem is, I don’t have that many friends. Well, at least that many who blog. Or, at least that many who blog and haven’t already been tagged to do this by someone else. So I decided to change the rules a bit. If I nominate you, and you’ve already been nominated, you have to answer all 22 questions! Sounds fair right? And Brianne, are their tag backs?
So, without further ado, the nominees are…. (drum roll)……
Jenn Farr
Molly Mitchell
Jennifer Reed
Megan Naihe
Lacey Whitworth
Leia Lumsden
Megan Schneider
Melissa Huskinson
Clarissa Hyzer
Carrie Reeves
Katie Bolick
I put your last names because I had this suspicion that you would see your name think I had another friend with that name. No, it’s you!
Done.
Your turn.

I mindlessly sit at my computer at night (like right now), with the intent of finding some healthy recipe or organizing my photos into some cool book....but alas, I just waste a few hours of time....it's a terrible habit!
I LOVE this!!
I will get on it right away.
We have a lot in common. That's all I know. And I really like you lots.
I do feel lucky and important! Remember how I borrowed your copy of East of Eden and then right before I moved away forever, I had Devin return it to you...only he returned it to the Reeds instead? I hope all of that was cleared up. If not, I owe you a book. Anyways, I couldn't finish the book because there were twin boys in the story, and I had just had my twin boys and as the story progressed I was afraid of what might happen to/between the twin boys and as a new mother, my heart just couldn't take it. I'm emotional like that. So, you must tell me that everything was swell and dandy between them and then I'll be able to read it all the way through....
By the way, hello? "The King and I."
Yes, I did get that darn song in my head. And I didn't know you were such a wild woman! I loved all your answers, thanks for playing along. And I never noticed that you didn't have earlobes. Miss you Kristina!
That was fun to read, and I did my part on my blog :) Sorry if some of the wording sounds familiar...I liked the way you said things!
LOVED reading this. You are just so darn cool. I NEVER EVER would have had the courage to crash a prom. You are quite adventurous! Miss you!
