Catch-up

Catch up, update, rambling… whatever you want to call it… I’m behind in updating my blog. Not that there is anything spectacular to talk about. Just the normal boring stuff. But it’s that stuff that is sometimes more important to remember.

Note: All of these pictures were taken with my ipad, so they are sub par. And I didn’t bother to crop or edit a single one. I’m on a time crunch here. Summer means I have absolutely no time to myself… there are kids everywhere! But I’m stealing a few moments to update my blog.

First we have to go back… way back… to what seems like years ago, but in fact was just last month.
Success Day
Each grade has a success day where they recognize each child with an award of some sort. There are recognitions for math, science, reading, etc.. But my favorite would have to be “Super Bus Rider” and “Super Breakfast Eater.” Sadly, my children weren’t awarded those.
Here is Jefferson (evidently cold, in June) with the other class presidents, leading everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. And accepting his awards for Math, and Reading, and other stuff. He was one of the top readers in his grade (over 2 million words), go Jefferson!

Here is Grant receiving his awards. He also was recognized as being the 2nd highest reader in his grade.

He’s pretty much a rock star!

Then there was Reagan, who received the “Mighty Mathematician” award.

Reagan with her Kindergarten teachers on the last day of school. It took MONTHS for her to go to school without crying. But by the end of the year, she was begging to go, thanks to the tireless effort of these women… and the entire staff (I don’t doubt she was the most difficult child they’d ever had)!

Jefferson received his Bear in cub scouts. Here he is pinning the bear pin on me. How do you like the madras shorts with the scout uniform?
I guess I shouldn’t talk, I look like a hopping bunny

Lets see, what else do I have to share?

Kennedy on a play date with her friend Sarah. They sat in these swings for an hour!

Grant recently finished another baseball season. He was the Tiger’s first baseman and team captain. I can’t be the only mom who thinks her son is going to go pro, right?
He hits every pitch and catches every ball thrown to him. I’m not exaggerating… every ball!

I absolutely love watching him play. Shawn and I would have this girl strapped to our backs for 2 hours, 2 nights a week (sometimes until 9pm) to watch Grant.082093

I took on a project. It felt so good to actually do something creative again.
This was the hutch I found at a garage sale. It was covered in cobwebs and stains, and painted with a ridiculous amount of paint.

I basically had to disassemble the entire thing. What do I mean basically?… I actually did.
In hindsight, it probably would have been less work to build one from scratch. But I’m happy with the result.

Now, if you thought that project was a bit scary. Look at this one…..
I bought this GIGANTIC armoire a few weeks ago. To give you an idea of how ginormous it is, I actually had to remove ALL (as in every single one) of the car’s seats, and it took 3 adults to maneuver it inside of my van. What was I thinking? Well, at the time I thought it would be a fun project. Now it gives me goose bumps and makes me nervous.

I have become clinically obsessed with brussel sprouts. I eat a plate full like this every day.
I know it’s become a problem because I will turn down ice cream to have these instead.

I just finished single-handedly building this Harry Potter lego. It took HOURS and DAYS and WEEKS.
Not that I don’t have anything better to do. Just that I was trying to avoid doing anything else.
It doesn’t look too impressive in this picture… but trust me, it’s a masterpiece!

The boys built it first, 2 years ago. Then over time it broke and joined the tub of legos.
I decided it needed to be put back together. So, I found each individual piece, one a time, by digging through this. I had to find 1,290 pieces!

I’m also happy to announce that I finished the Christmas gift I started for Kennedy 1 1/2 years ago. I’m so productive! It’s finally done and hung, just in time for her to be old enough to reach it and yank it down.

And Kennedy with her buddy. I don’t think Emmaline likes the choke hold.
These darlings played together the past 2 years. Sadly, her family just moved away. They both share the unfortunate past of having traveled across the country as newborns. I think that makes them best friends for life.

That’s it folks! I’m all updated, like I just completed blog spring cleaning.
Except for the HUMUNGOUS vacation we just took. I’m sure that will take a lifetime to document.

But, I’m thinking about putting together another lego instead…. as distraction.
