According to JJ

The boys were sitting at the table during breakfast when I heard Grant ask Jefferson "Why do bagels have holes in them?" Without thinking about it and as a matter of factly, Jefferson said, "They have to breath, that's why they have holes. We have holes in our faces so we can breath like this (he demonstrates taking a breath), that's like bagels too." Grant was satisfied with the answer.
Kids have a way of making things so simple. I have always wondered myself why bagels have holes, I've even asked other people what they think and no one seems to know. I should have asked my own son, he knows the answer. It was so simple, duh, they have holes to breath!
