Today was a BIG day for this guy…
He graduated Kindergarten. No more 'half-days'… it's time to get serious, he's in grade school now. I could easily say that today was just as hard for me as sending him off the first day… maybe even harder. But doesn't he look cute? I could just squeeze those cheeks… as a matter of fact I did, and kissed them too!
Jefferson with his teacher, Mrs. Schramm. "She is my favorite teacher EVER." My favorite teacher was my kindergarten teacher, wasn't yours? She was truly amazing. She said her goal for teaching these children was to give them a love of school for the rest of their lives. That's a tough responsibility, but she has done it!
His class…
What a great bunch of kids! Mrs. Schramm announced to us today that THIS class was awarded "best class in May" from a local radio station. Each month a different class is featured. Jefferson's kindergarten class won because of the over 100 hats/mittens/gloves they donated to needy children this winter. Yeah! What did they win? They won a plaque, their picture on the station's website, and a pizza party. They'll have their pizza party next fall because school is out now. Way to go kinders!!
They sang some ADORABLE songs….
Then received their diplomas… of course, in a rush I don't know how to use my camera, and everything is blurry… typical.
This diploma was definitely deserved. I've seen Jefferson improve in everything. His handwriting is clear and pretty neat. He can count to 100. He can read (this took a lot of practice, but he did it!). He can add and subtract numbers 1-10. And he can identify 82 locations on the USA map. Jefferson was also awarded a certificate from the PE teacher for being 1 of only 2 kids in his class to run the furthest during the year. He ran a total of 5 miles.
This is Jefferson with his best friend, Noah.
Our family. Jefferson looks upset because I made him take this picture before he could get a treat…. He reminded me how mean I am.
Way to go Jefferson! You're a first grader now!
One more thing…. Reagan was worried about her doll on the way home, so she insisted she sit in a seat belt.
