I have desperately wanted to take a trip to the beach since our last visit this past summer. But we haven’t gone. Probably because it’s like 38 degrees here and I am a major wimp when it comes to the cold. But with a few days of sunshine this last week, we decided it was time to visit the coast. I’m so glad we went. It was 60 degrees, at least! We totally over-dressed, and for a few hours I actually thought it was spring. It made for one really happy day!
I just wanted to share some of the pictures I got. Look at how bright and sunny it was…. so unusual for February. I love it!
While the boys wandered in the woods collecting sticks, Reagan and I took a walk to look for shells. We ended up finding something much more amazing, and had to walk back to get the boys. (I swear we walked 3 miles that day!)
There was this great waterfall along the beach that fell into the ocean….
And tons of sea life….
I don’t think I have to explain how much fun my kids had. The boys climbed rocks and Reagan played in the sand… for hours!
Here is Shawn, hiding from the sun (as usual). He was crouched in a cave, but I forced him to come out and sit near us. He did, but insisted on wearing my scarf around his head. He has a serious phobia of sunburns. We need to address this problem….
This is Reagan, laughing at her ridiculous father! (I love you honey… you’re just an easy target).
What a beautiful day. I am so glad we decided to go. I think the Oregon coast is the most beautiful! (Not that I’ve visited many others around the world). But I’m sure it ranks up there in the top 5. It certainly has my vote!

I've heard the Pacific coast has more clear days in winter, because there's no inland heat to draw the fog in. Even if the kids don't remember the details, they will likely retain strong memory of how wonderful it felt, experiencing all of this.
Oh how I miss that waterfall...and that beach...and that view...and that coast! I agree with you, it is one of the most beautiful places. Only 3 more months and I'm back!
You're killing me smalls! I miss Oregon sooooo much! I need to make more money and buy a house there! So glad you took advantage of that radical beach!
I love all your photos! And 60 degrees!?! You guys totally scored. Glad you guys made it over there...and, how are you enjoying Shawn's FINAL break between rotations??? Crazy! 3 months and we'll see you back in Oregon! :)
