American Everyday

On April 3rd, the Kindergarten classes at Reagan’s school put on a musical performance. It was dedicated to all military members (so basically everyone in the audience), and featured all American songs.
Reagan was looking forward to this for weeks and had been practicing her songs (in her room). She wanted the songs to be a surprise, so she sang them in secret. One day Shawn began belting-out “This land is your land, this land is my land,” when Reagan stormed in. “How do you know that song?” she yelled. She was accusing Shawn of spying on her singing, and couldn’t believe that he might actually know an American themed song.

Her very favorite song was “I Love America Everyday”
Okay, she may have been right on this one… we had never heard this song before. And in fact, it may be my new favorite too.
I actually think it should be our new National Anthem (is that blasphemy?)
Just listen, you might agree with me…

Reagan is the cute blond pig-tailed girl in the center

All of the Kindergarteners, and their little handprints. Melt my heart.

Reagan spent most of the time hidden behind this girl. She stood directly behind her instead of next to her on the row.
I’m just as puzzled as you.
I’m also curious about the hand motions in this picture. The front row looks more like “hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil” than anything American to me.

Oh, here she is. This is what we came to see. Isn’t she cute?

To be honest, I enjoyed watching her sing whether or not she was standing behind someone else.
It was adorable.
Reagan tends to hide from the spotlight. I rarely ever see her singing, or dancing, or doing anything that would draw attention (besides throwing a fit). So we really enjoyed watching her on stage. I was so proud of her. I wanted to get a picture afterwards, but she refused.

She literally ran away from me with my camera. And yes, I chased after her. I value documenting these things (perhaps too much).
She beat me to the car. This is the best picture I got of her, closing the door on me.

And hiding behind the door.
Kennedy is a bit confused. I wonder if she thinks Reagan is crazy for not wanting her picture taken, or if I’m crazy for wanting to take it so bad.

She insisted that we go out for yogurt after her performance. She looked so cute up there on stage, we couldn’t resist her request.
