Uptown Girl for the night

Shawn outdid himself.... again!

He surprised me with tickets to see ELTON JOHN and BILLY JOEL in concert. If you know me, you know I am in LOVE with Billy Joel. These men are legendary!

The concert was AMAZING, remarkable, astonishing, wonderful, fantastic. I loved every second of it.
The story goes.... we were looking at dates for the Circus online when I noticed the upcoming concert for Elton and Billy. It was one night only. It crossed my mind for 2 seconds how cool it would be to go if we 1: had no kids and 2: a million dollars. That was never going to happen, so I went on with my life. I guess those factors won't stop Shawn. He bought the tickets. It was PERFECT. They were performing during Shawn's Fall Break, so he was out of school. And my mom was going to be visiting, so we had a babysitter...

Then Elton got sick and cancelled the show.

They rescheduled for a Wednesday night, a few days before one of Shawn's tests, and we had no babysitter. Luckily we have awesome friends who were willing to watch our kids until after midnight.

Then, Reagan got sick.
We went anyways. Would a better mom have stayed home with her sick child? Probably. Okay, I had a selfish moment. There ya go, I admitted it.

These guys were AWESOME. Boy are they talented. It doesn't get much better than a duet and piano show-down between "The Rocket Man" and "The Piano Man." They sang all their hit songs! And I know what you're thinking.... what a good picture, she sat really close. No, this is what Greg saw.
This is what I saw...

Ahh, I got chills. My whole body was vibrating, and my ears lost their hearing. I loved it. I sang. I danced. And I never wanted to leave. So here's to a night I'll never forget. Thanks Shawn for reminding me that it's okay for 'moms' to have this much fun.... sometimes I forget.

THAT is amazing, Kristina! What an awesome night! And hello, you don't have a selfish bone in your body...I'd call that a much needed night away...and a once in a lifetime experience.

We just saw Elton in concert too, and that was amazing. I can only imagine adding Billy Joel to the mix. I love him too. Amazing.

SO EXCITING!!! I love Billy Joel...he is a legend! Shawn is such a great husband for doing that for you! As far as the "selfish" thing goes....you are the least selfish person I know....the concert was definitely well-deserved!

I am SO jealous. Elton and Billy have come to Utah a couple times and I always tell Chris about it. He isn't a huge Elton fan like I am, so he could care less. That and I always wonder if it's worth the money when your seats are so far away. Was it worth the money?
