A Picky Pumpkin Picker

This week Reagan had her first fieldtrip with her preschool class. I got someone to watch Grant, and I took Reagan alone. It was nice to spend some quality time with her.

I think she had fun. I say, “I think” because she acted totally weird the entire time. She wouldn’t talk or look at anyone, and she walked around sort of mopey. That same day when she spiked a fever and fell asleep on the couch, I knew why she was such a downer on the field trip. If you ask her now if she had fun on her fieldtrip, she’ll tell you yes.

Here she is with some of her classmates, getting a little talk before heading to the pumpkin patch.

A train took us over to the pumpkin patch. Here’s Reagan, all ready to ride. She made me hold her hand the entire time.

She spent a LOOOOOONG time trying to find a pumpkin she wanted. I kept pointing out perfect ones and she would say, “no, I don’t like that one.” Man, was she picky. Finally, she found a little itty-bitty one just her size. A perfect one, which, by the way was “Cinderella’s pumpkin,” according to her. She has great aspirations for this pumpkin. She is convinced that we will be carving it and making it a “scary jack-o-lantern.” I told her it was too small. She said it will be “a jack-o-lantern for the mouse in Cinderella.”

Admiring the flower her friend Dawson gave her.

Then we all loaded up onto a boat to take us back to the picnic tables for snack. The boat ride features a sea monster and shark that shoot up out of the water. She cannot stop talking about the shark. I think it was her favorite part of the entire day.

She had a little snack, then checked out some of the farm animals.

Reagan with her class. The girl to the right of Reagan in a flowered raincoat (I can’t remember her name) just adores Reagan. She ran up to her and gave her a huge hug. “Reagan, how are you. Reagan, come meet my mommy. Reagan this, Reagan that, Reagan”…… Reagan ignored her. Why do I feel like I have the most anti-social children ever? I’ll just use the ‘sick’ excuse again.

Well, I think it was a real treat to spend the morning alone with this girl. We get time alone, but we usually go grocery shopping or clean the house. This was a nice distraction. We were able to catch up on all our hand-holding, and have some good talks about smashed pumpkins and Disney princesses.

Not one big smile and sleepy eyes, to boot. Yep,the fact that she spiked a fever later explains it all!! She looks so grown up standing with her class. And, apparently, she's not the only girl who likes pink!!

Ahhhw! That place is the BEST! I'm sorry she wasn't feelin' very good. :( Was that the same day Carter called and talked her ear off? ;) She looks so cute all decked out in her rainboots and slicker...and I think her pumpkin is perfect! And, I love your bangs like that! The straight forward look totally suites you! (Not fair...I tried it and looked ridiculous...remember?)
