Broken...

I'm superstitious. I'm sure you are too. I mean, the saying "everything happens for a reason".... isn't that superstitious? and I'm sure you've thought it once or twice in your life.
Anyways, I can be overly superstitious about certain things. Like the anniversary plant my mom bought for Shawn and I on our 1st anniversary. When she gave it to us she said to me "this plant represents your marriage now, so you have to take really good care of it" I'm sure she was just making a silly comment, but to someone who is superstitious, this was a huge responsibility.
I have babied the plant over the past 7 years since we received it. It's gotten all the love and attention any plant needs. I've saved up money and bought new pots as it's grown. And I've watched it very carefully. Any change in our plant signifies a change in our relationship..... right? I know how ridiculous this sounds, but it's real. When we've had each of our children, I've noticed a lot more growth in the plant. And there have been times it's suffered and leaves have turned brown and fallen off. Shawn thinks I'm a lunatic the times I've had "talks" with him because I've noticed the plant is looking sad.

Anyways.... my heart SANK yesterday when I found this.....

I was able to save 2 of the 4 pieces.
But, what am I supposed to think of this?

Just pick up the pieces, get a new pot, add more dirt, fertilizer, water, and continue to nurture it!!!! No brainer. "Just Do It" (oh, and be grateful it didn't land on a child!!!) I'd set it on the floor from now on, so gravity doesn't prevail

I love your mom's comment. That's great advice! But I have to be honest and tell you that I think you're too superstitious and that it's just a plant. Things happen regardless if your plant lives or dies.
Love ya!

You should think, "I have a great new reason to get a new fun pot for my plant that I saved."

It proves that you can pull it together when there are bumps in the road. You pick up the pieces and move on. Thankfully it wasn't a mirror. That's a whole different story. lol

I'm superstitious as well..if I ever broke a mirror I would probably go into hiding for 7 years.
Transplant it to a new pot and enjoy...I'm sure there are LOTS more years to come. For your marriage and the plant!

Oh my heck! I am so sorry about your plant and pot! You are so funny...and superstitious...:) Pretty sure your plant will be fine...and if it's not, it won't affect you and Shawn. :) You guys ROCK!

Joe and I had a love fern. He got it for me when we were dating...my roommate threw it in the garbage like a week after I got it because she thought it was dead. Hmmm....what does that mean? I have to say, I'm impressed that you kept it alive this long....I'm a notorious plant killer. I can't seem to keep one alive for more than a year.
