Baby Update

I guess I’m not doing as good at documenting this pregnancy as I had originally hoped. Oh well.

I haven’t taken a picture in almost 2 months. I always think… ‘I should really take a picture now,’ but that thought it either early in the morning when I am still wearing yoga pants, or in the evening when I’ve put my pj’s on. So, a couple days ago the sun came out (finally), I had real clothes on (for once), and my hair was actually brushed (sortof)…. it was the perfect day to snap a shot. The only other person home was Jefferson, so he did the honors. Sidenote – he was a little camera obsessed and wanted to take picture after picture, with different poses and angles. He told me “I love taking pictures, I want to be a picture-taker.”

anyho0, here we are (me and the babe, that is)… looking deceptively small!

I feel twice the size that I look…. yet thankful I look half the size that I feel!

This belly is 27 weeks. I didn’t know how far along I was, and I had to look up my profile on BabyCenter.com (good thing someone is keeping track).

The doctor is still watching this baby a little closer than normal. We have appointments every 2 wks. Everything looks beautiful! This last week was my glucose test and that came back perfect, yeah. But I am pretty anemic, which would explain why I want to lay in bed all day. Things have been going really well and the baby is an active one. But I would say, compared to my other babies, this one kicks softly. Maybe this means I will get a quite, calm, soft spoken child… probably not. My weight is great. And my mental health is great (for those of you worried about my basket-case tendencies).

Acid reflux has gotten annoying, and I snack on Tums all day long! Although I think the Tums may also be curbing my chalk cravings. Yes, whenever I am pregnant I crave chalk, dirt, and wood chips. Weird. Don’t worry, I don’t eat it!

This entire pregnancy has wiped me out (could also be the low iron levels), but either way, Shawn is pleased. By the evening all I want to do it lay down and watch a movie (Shawn’s favorite pastime). If you know me, you know I normally despise movie watching. But I would say that’s all I do now.

Well that, and built a door shelf, re-stain/paint my kitchen table, make Easter clothes, and constantly reorganize my closets (and by constantly, I mean almost every day).

Well, that’s my update. Hopefully I wont go so long before taking another picture. Now, it’s off to the couch to watch a movie….

Sending love to Africa

I’m sending a special birthday wish to my brother, Ian.

His birthday is tomorrow, the 13th. But in Djibouti it is tomorrow…… 6:10 am to be exact.

I know, you’re wondering where Djibouti is (unless you’re a geography buff). Here it is….

This is where Ian has been stationed for the last 4 months, serving the US Air Force. He’ll return to my sister-in-law in England in 56 days (but who’s counting?) . I can’t imagine being so far away from loved ones. Ian, we are so proud of your service. You go above and beyond in everything you do. Your awards and recognitions are definitely earned… proof that your family aren’t the only ones who think you are awesome stuff!

Here he is meeting the Secretary of Defense, Leon E. Panetta.  Look at that handsome bloke (the one on the right). To be honest, I don’t know how they can be smiling in the heat over there!

Ian, my kids are slightly obsessed with you, and anything African, right now. They look up to you and talk about you incessantly. I couldn’t be more happy with their choice of a role model. Thank you for serving our nation. I admire your ability to take the cards dealt you and make a good hand (although this metaphor does not apply to your actual poker skills).

We hope you enjoy your birthday! I’m sure you’ll be following orders all day, but you sure deserve to take a break!! Hey, maybe I’ll take a rest and spoil myself on your birthday (in honor of you, of course). Since you can’t, someone should…. we wouldn’t want the day to go to waste.

We sure love you, Shawn, Kristina, and your 3 biggest fans…..

The Fashionista

Lately Reagan has been obsessed with her clothing! She’s always been picky on what she will/won’t wear, but now it’s a true obsession. I have NO say, which is frustrating, but I’m letting go. Every morning she lays out her clothing and deliberates over the best outfit. She’ll change outfits several times and sometimes even wear several outfits at once. Goof!  This ‘best’ outfit never matches and is never appropriate for the weather. She was outside the other day in JUST a tutu and t-shirt (I was bundled with a coat and scarf). And on her feet are her Cinderella slippers of course. I wish she would just wear what I pick out for her. But if I show any preference for something, she’ll decide to hate it. Oh, we get along so well in the mornings. I won’t even mention our hair struggles….

Here she is making her daily deliberation.
