So here is my second quilt. It's a lap quilt size, about 50" by 60". Looking at it, I have second thoughts about choosing the "white"... we'll see how long that says clean.
I bought 2 of these fabric bundles pre-cut into 5" squares.... it was wonderful because the color matching and some cutting was already done for me. I cut each of those into 2.5" by 5" rectangles and sewed them together. Then sewed on the white sashing. A perfect quilt pattern for a beginner like me. Then I basted (pinned) the top to the batting and bottom.
Here it is all pinned together.
Then I stippled it together. I was pretty scared to do this part. I was worried that I would do all this work so far on the quilt, then completely mess it up when stitching it together. What a waste of time that would have been, but you have to begin somehow. So I took the plunge and started stitching curvy lines all over the quilt. Thanks again to the internet for helping me with this one. I just LOVE the way it makes the quilt look when it's done. I did mess up big time TWICE, ugg! I had to undo all the stitching which took about an hour each time.
Then I binded the quilt... which also seems hard and intimidating but is surprisingly simple. Here's the top
and the bottom (with a little cutie on it)
The kids actually like this quilt. You would think kids could care less, but they've seen me working on it for so long and kept asking when I was going to be done. They like me to lay it out of the floor and they dance on it. Which got me thinking of another project to make.... Wouldn't it be awesome to make a quilt that looked like a Twister board? Oh, another project, just what I need. Shawn is cringing.

You taught YOURSELF?! Shawn may think that it's expensive but when you have a closet full of homemade quilts, he'll be glad. It's so beautiful!
you are AMAZING!
Love the quilt! I think that the simpler patterns are the cutest. You are one talented gal!
