This Easter we had the opportunity to go to 3 different Egg hunts on Saturday. Jefferson's school (which is run by a church) was having one, a group from Shawn's school was having one, and their was one at our church. At first we were going to go to ALL 3! But then I think Shawn and I realized how absolutely CRAZY that would be, never mind how much candy the boys would have! So, we decided to just go to the activity at our church. It turned out to be a great day. They had games, an egg hunt, and a potluck. Shawn and I made hot artichoke and spinach dip which turned out so deliciously wonderful that I can't wait to make it again! One of the games we played was "toss the egg" (the RAW egg). Eggs were cracking everywhere, I was lucky to get out of there clean. Jefferson and Grant wanted to play which made me cringe because I hadn't brought any change of clothes (plus, Grant is allergic to eggs - maybe I should have worried about that, but I didn't). So, they started throwing the egg.

Wow, Shawn was brave to stand so close! Funny, they did not catch it once and it NEVER broke. That egg was slamming against their chests, flinging off their arms, and bouncing off the ground. Seriously, we got some super power egg! I was amazed, and very pleased. I just hope the boys don't think all eggs are like this and start throwing them around the house.
The egg hunt was fun for them too, duh! Luckily they separated our humongous primary. Those 5 and older went first. 5 and younger went next in a separate field. Here we are lined up for the start.

Here is Jefferson standing further down from us. He wanted nothing to do with us at all. "Come stand by your family," "we want you by us," "come take a picture with us," I kept saying and he kept shaking his head "no." I think I may have been embarrassing him (I'm turning into one of 'those' moms, great!)

Reagan even knew what to do and started collecting eggs.

3 very happy kids!

After eating they had an Easter egg hunt for the adults, what fun! The eggs were filled with candy, of course. They were also filled with slips of paper that we each wrote a service on. Some people wrote "will babysit your kids" or "will mow your lawn." I did "I will bake you a batch of cookies" because who doesn't like fresh warm-from-the-oven goodness? So, I was so excited to hunt for eggs. I totally wanted to collect on someone's service. Here I am gitty and pumped up to start (it brought out the kid in me).

That was until this happened...
It was supposed to be for adults only.... and for children who can't contain their excitement and must dash out into a field of running adults. Shawn's first comment on the event was how cool it was that he got it on tape, thanks honey! I loved the people who saw me, but just continued to hunt for eggs, but who could blame 'em, there was some good hunting to be done. Both nostrils let off like a faucet, streaming blood. Jefferson was lying on the ground screaming and I couldn't console him because I felt like I had just been hit with a metal baseball bat. The whole event was a reminder why this pastime is for kids only. I think my egg hunting days are over. Unless the eggs are hidden above waist height, I think I could get away with it if no bending over is required. I'm sad to report, I didn't collect on anyone's service, bummer! But I did collect a really nasty swollen nose and eye brow.

I don't think this picture even does it justice, but it's good enough. This is the second time this year my nose has been damaged by my own kids. (I don't really BLAME Jefferson for this one, but it was his head I hit). This Christmas Grant jumped on me and his head hit my nose making the loudest SMACK noise. I was sure he broke it, or at least cracked it! I guess Reagan is next to hurt my nose....
This morning we celebrated Easter by going to church. The Easter bunny left goodies in the kids baskets and hid eggs while we were gone. So we had a small hunt when we got home.

Thanks Easter bunny, more candy! Just what we needed!

I wanted to take a cute Easter picture of Reagan, but she was not in the mood, she was all frowns!

We were invited for dinner at the Durfee's house (friends from the ward). Their family is super nice and we had a great time. It's so nice to have other families to spend holidays with when we're so far away from ours. We miss everyone, and hope everyone had a great Easter!

Fun day!!!! Can you post that recipe?? I love spinach and artichoke dip!
Kristina, I had to just laugh at this post. You knocking down Jefferson was so sad, yet so funny. I'm sorry that it hurt both of you. I'm glad you all had a happy Easter!
What a fun day. I can't believe no one stopped to help you and jefferson! How Sad! And no, we didn't watch the video like 10 times;)
I'm just glad Shawn was performing his fatherly duty of recording everything on the camera. Priceless!
Ouch! That looked painful! But, other than that, it looks like you guys had a nice Easter! Little Reagan is adorable...and getting so big! I can't believe it!
That video is so funny! Sorry about the nose though. It seems as those things happen to me all the time too, though usually to my eyes.
