Okay, so I've lied to you all…. My family…. And myself. On Janurary 24th I posted that I was putting my sewing machine away. I did it because crafting was taking over my life!! Well, that didn't last long. Here I am again, to show you what I've been up to. And to publicly announce again that my sewing machine is going to get put away. My priorities are getting out-of-wack! So here we go…. For show and tell….
I made this mirror. I don't love it as much as I did the image in my mind…. But it's close enough. I bought the 12" square mirrors and framed them with thin pieces of wood and molding. I gorilla glued everything down onto a scrap piece of wood I found at Home Depot for $1 and Shawn hung it up, lovely.
My next project to beatify (de-apartment-ize) the place was to put up some drapes. This window is HUGE (about 120") and I didn't want to spend a fortune on a stinkin' rod. First I was going to use a wooden rod.... the PVC pipe..... instead I found an AWESOME deal on a real rod. It was pretty ugly, so I spray painted it, and voila.... it looks more like a home in here now!
Then I made this skirt for Reagan. This picture would be of her wearing the skirt, but I made it too big. It's a perfect size for Grant. Who knows, maybe I'll make it a dress for her instead, or she can just grow into it. I used THIS pattern, with much cuter fabric!
A friend is expecting a baby so I made her a soft book of colors, with each page a patchwork of scrap fabric in the same colors….
Okay, then something had to be done with this boring white wall, and with the thousands of new family pictures we have. Put them both together, and what do you get…..
I bought all the frames at Goodwill. They all came with mats in them, but they were different colors. I was complaining about the cost of buying new mats when my friend suggested just spray painting them (my friends are craft geniuses!). I feel much better about my bare wall now.
I also made this table runner, which is identical to the ones I made for Mother's Day last year. I had enough leftover fabric to make one for myself. It's so springy!
Last but not least is the quilt I made for Ian and Clarissa. I promised them a quilt for their wedding gift. I bought the fabric a while ago, and was taking my time making it, when I found out that Clarissa was leaving for England in just 2 weeks. I had to whip this sucker up and send it in the mail quickly. It was bittersweet. It's about the size of a twin. It matches Reagan's room exactly, so I might have to make her one next.
But of course, I just vowed not to sew for a while…. To my defense though, not all of these projects were "sewing" projects. Either way, I'm taking a little siesta from crafting to focus on some other important things in my life…. Like cleaning my bathroom

oh my! I love the mirrors, and I love the family pictures. I love the rod, I love the skirt, I love the blanket. I lOVE it all! Makes me long for the days when I have more time to do that so I can de-apartment-ize my own apartment :) You have serious talent.
Ok! I have been blog stalking you and your amazingly beautiful family for while now off of Lacey's blog but I can't stay quiet any longer. Your crafts are AMAZING! How on earth do you find time to be the wonderful mother that I am sure that you are and craft and blog?! I have 1 and 1 on the way and I blog once a month and don't even know how to work a sewing machine. I am SUPER jealous. :) Liza (Dawson) Martin
You are amazing! I love EVERYTHING you've done in your home...your sewing projects, etc. You are INSPIRATIONAL! :) And, by the way, you are a stellar mom EVEN when you are crafting. Way to be disciplined though and put your sewing machine away. That demonstrates some serious self controll!!!
Wow Kristina!! You make me feel so un-talented! I LOVE everything you make...you are amazing! I especially love the mirror. It is so cute! You have to teach me.
So, I've been trying to find a window mirror like that for cheap to possibly fix up, and never thought to just go make it! I'm totally doing that now. Thanks for your amazing inspiration! Everything looks so great!!!
