I guess the River Fever is contagious because after looking at my pictures, my mom had to go down the river too. Of course, she can't go alone, so she invited us and my brother... and who can resist an invitation for pure excitement?
My mom knows a man who owns his own company. He was in our old ward, years ago. So, he hooked us up with a great deal. Thanks Danny Lula! His daughter, Hannah, was our guide... she was awesome!
anyways, here's a picture of us all. This was taken after the fact.

We went down the Lower Fork of the American River (the 2nd half of the river that Shawn and I went down last time). It started out really mellow. We swam a lot in the water (which felt like swimming in a bowl of ice water). We stopped at a jumping rock and Ian and I leaped off the top. It was thrilling! To clarify.... the only reason I couldn't jump at Sly Park Lake was because it was life threatening with all the jagged rocks below me. I'll jump if I am certain I'll survive! Man, I wish I had pictures to share.
Oh, then we stopped our raft again. There were these huge boulders in the water and a small hole where they met. If you squeezed your body into the hole and shoved your body under water, the current would take you through a tunnel, UNDERNEATH the rock and pop you out on the other side. IT WAS AWESOME!!!
Here's some pictures of us on Satan's Cesspool. Ian and Shawn took the rapids head on, they had no fear.
We were able to jump out of our boat at some of the rapids and swim them. I made Shawn go down the rapids with me, holding onto me in case I drowned of course. I was pretty darn scared! I couldn't get a breath... waves just kept pounding us in the face....water kept going up our noses... and I realized how easy it is for people to die on the river. But it was pretty fun... and we did it again on another rapid.
SPLASH!
My favorite rafting faces!
No one fell out by accident... success! The only casualty was my visor.
Doesn't this picture make me look uber-athletic.....If you only knew the truth. And I think Shawn's life vest is so tight, it looks like he has rolls, haha.
Shawn (without rolls) and I, after our trip. It was nice to get away again. Thank you Lindsay for watching our kids ALL DAY LONG!
Have you caught the River Fever yet? I know... it's contagious. Well, we're still suffering from it, so make sure to invite us if you're going!!

I can't begin to describe just how happy it made me to have you share this experience together AND with me, too! The thrill is NOT gone, nor will it be for some time!
Regarding your comments "Had Shawn hold me so I wouldn't drown, I was scared, couldn't get my breath, could see how easy it is for people to die.....etc. etc. I'm so glad you had FUN but I still think your NUTS. ( I know, I must be getting old ) Loved seeing you & the kids.
