Bittersweet

So, I feel like we should celebrate the fact that Shawn is finished with his 3rd year of Graduate school. That was no easy feat. He does have 1 year left to graduate, but lets be honest, it's not really school... as in "a classroom". He'll be doing clinical rotations in different offices, with different doctors, to gain experience before he graduates. But as far as I'm concerned, the celebration has begun! Aside from having no income, our life will be somewhat normal.... with a normal working husband/father, coming home at normal hours and not studying EVERY waking hour. I'm a little thrilled to have my husband one step closer to graduating. Yeah!

So, of course, we had the usual Thai food to celebrate. (which by the way, I am extremely sick of. That is all Shawn ever wants.... EVER, the restaurant workers know his name for crying out loud!!!)

And we got together with our friends, Shawn's classmates, to say goodbye. We met for lunch today at Hagg Lake, which is beautiful! The day was cold, but we enjoyed ourselves. Because everyone is going on rotations to different areas around the country, we won't see a lot of these families until the big graduation day a year from now, which is sad.
I will miss the girls, of course. But I cannot imagine how Shawn must feel to say goodbye to guys he's been sitting next to everyday for the past 3 years. If it were us girls who had been in school together we would have spent the entire afternoon weeping and wailing. But because they're men, they got their emotions out with a good 'ol game of baseball. This was a very entertaining game to watch... with a pink child's bat, wiffle ball, and bases no more than 20 feel from each other.

The kids just ran around having kid fun!

Here's a group shot of some of the kiddos.

I just kept thinking about these families we have grown to love so much, and how much we'll miss them. The past 3 years went by way too fast! There were times I even forgot there would be an end, and was sure we'd all be neighbors for the rest of our lives. I'm sad to say goodbye, but I'm so excited to move forward.
So, it is bittersweet.

I love your blog.
And hope you'll keep posting LOTS so I have something to read at night.
Also, it is bittersweet for US that you're almost done. Please don't leave.
I'm being selfish now.

Sad that we couldn't make it :( Seth had a doctor's appointment, and we were leaving the next morning for a needed trip to pick up some girl stuff from Idaho. It was quite the day.
Glad everyone had a good time! Looked cold!
