A Magical Evening

Jefferson loves magic. I guess you can say it's his little 'hobby.' Along with legos, stamp collecting, bugs, rock collecting, movie watching, and reading.
But this one seems to be his favorite.

So, the talent show at this school was coming up and he wanted to perform some magic tricks. I have to be totally honest, I didn't think he had what it took. But, he really wanted to do it, and I wasn't going to discourage him... so we practiced daily until he did have what it took! He chose his tricks and we made a little 3 minute routine.

Tonight was the big night!
Here he is, all dressed up. He was so excited to go.
Abracadabra!

I saw Jefferson's name on the program and I instantly got sick to my stomach with nervousness. Seriously! He, on the other hand was calm... unnaturally calm if you ask me!

And look how many people there were... I'm guessing over 200.

I only got a couple pictures of him performing, and the ones I did get are blurry because my hand was shaking the whole time. I think my stage fright is so bad I can feel it through other people.
He did an amazing job! And it's not even because he's my son. Seriously, he did great!

What a charmer! He talked to the audience and had them laughing a few times.

Here's a couple videos of his act.....

The Magic Jug

Green Scarf

After all the acts, the children ran onto the stage and danced. Jefferson slowly walked up the stairs and stood. Later, he told me that he was “too shy” to dance. Too shy? I told him that made no sense. Just an hour before he is alone on the stage, and now he’s too shy? What a goof!

Relaxing after the show with the guys...

Showing off his ribbon....

Way to go Jefferson! You did such a great job. We were going to treat you to ice cream afterwards, but we didn’t end up leaving until 8:30pm…. Luckily, it was going to be a surprise, so you don’t know the difference anyways. But you sure deserved ice cream!
You practiced so hard and it paid off. I truly think you do have what it takes to be a magician. You’ve just got to stop telling friends how you do it.
I can’t wait to see what tricks you have up your sleeve for next year.
I love you!!

What a delight!! Wish I could have been there to see him, in person. Have him bring his magic box to CA and he can put on shows for family, here!!

Miles watched the videos and looked at me and said: "Mom that's REAL magic." He also said: "I like Harry Potter--which is the same as magic." He thought that it looked scary to get up and perform in front of everyone like that. We both admire Jefferson's courage! LOVE HIM!
