The morning we left for California, Grant graduated from preschool. I know it's a pretty simple thing, a preschool graduation. But in Grant's case it was a MAJOR accomplishment and a day to celebrate!
This past year has not been an easy one. I sometimes wondered why I was spending $100/month in order to fight and physically battle with my child 3 days a week. But we knew it was a good thing for him to participate in, even if he hated it. The first half of the year he sat silent and read books alone during school, he wouldn't even speak to the teachers. I remember a day in October when his teacher, Chris, was excited to tell me that he had finally talked with her. Soon enough, he made a friend.... only 1, but still... a friend! Things didn't get easier. I wanted to take him out a dozen times. But, we kept it up.
I would say the last month was the best for him. He loved going every single day, and he would talk about his friend, Charley all the time. He would even HUG Charley at the end of each day (if you know Grant, you know what a BIG deal that is).
So, yes, getting through this year was a pain.. .but it was well worth it. If I had removed him from the class, he wouldn't have any of the social skills needed for Kindergarten.
So, this graduation was a BIG day for Grant... for all of us.
The room was decorated so cute....
Both classes together. Grant was in the PM class.
Grant told us there was a secret part and that we would laugh. At the end of one of the songs, the kids showed their rear-ends, which all had signs saying "The End."
Look, he's singing.... and really loud too!
They sang a lot of patriotic songs...
Accepting his preschool certificate...
Grant with his best friend, Charley.
And another friend, Max
Here he is with his teachers, Chris and Lynda. These women are amazing! He loved preschool because of them and the love they had for him. I have never had anyone embrace my son with so much care. This was their 30th year teaching Wonder World preschool, wow! I'm grateful that they could be a part of Grant's life!
Grant, you are such an amazing boy! I'm so proud of you and all you did this year. Seeing you smile on the day of your graduation brought me so much joy. You make my life wonderful!
Here comes KINDERGARTEN!!!

Yah for milestones...big and small.
Miss seeing you. My kids keep asking where 'little reagan' is. :(
Oh Kristina! YOU are such and amazing MOM! I LOVE this story, it exemplifies so much of our journey as mothers... Well done! Here's to consistency and persistence!
Congrats Grant on graduating from preschool! That is a super big deal. :)
I went to water your plants the other day and the silence inside your home was heart-breaking. :( Miss your family SO much!
This brought tears to my eyes! (maybe I'm a little emotional because today is Dev's first day of work!) It helped me realize how important it is as a mother to keep doing the hard things because it'll pay off and our children are WORTH the hard work!! You are a great mom and a huge example to me.
